AMC is currently involved in the planning and development of parq Resort and Casino (www.parqvancouver.com), the highly anticipated $600M multi-faceted entertainment resort adjacent to BC Place Stadium. Additionally, AMC was instrumental in the planning and development of Revelstoke Mountain Resort in B.C., planning of the Squamish Oceanfront, planning Trilogy’s CAYET community and Couverdon’s Jubilee Heights community both on Vancouver Island.

AMC’s role in the land development process is to rationalize the creation of the development project. AMC manages the various elements of a project, from master planning and engineering to construction and site-servicing, to the selection of builders, contractors, and consultants who can provide a standard of quality that equals the superior standard of design. AMC has over two decades of development experience in all facets of residential and commercial development including hotels, condominiums, commercial villages, casinos, townhomes, single family homes and estate lots.

      Sustainability

AMC prides itself in its sustainable approach to development, both vertical and horizontal. AMC believes that sustainable infrastructure is the backbone of any project. Once fundamental design parameters have been ascertained a refinement of the design to reflect a comprehensive green strategy can be undertaken.

Examples of development initiatives that AMC strives to include are:

      Vertical Construction:

        • Reduction of GHG emissions from buildings.
        • Rely primarily on renewable energy for heating and powering buildings.
        • Reduce indoor potable water use and reduce outdoor potable water use.
        • Divert solid waste from landfill. Separate construction waste for re-use or recycling.
        • Build to the equivalent of LEED environmental performance, target LEED Silver or better.

      Horizontal Construction:

        • In addition to establishing “size appropriate systems”, a number of green upgrades to the conventional utility design including the reduction of overall potable water demand and the reduction to the per capita design flow to the wastewater treatment facility can be investigated.
        • Implementation of Eco-Restorative Landscaping; a concept based on low tech solutions for managing challenging issues such as storm water, urban living and integrating nature back into the community. Examples of Eco-Restorative Landscaping include:
          • Green roofs, bioswales, native restoration/habitat enhancement and urban agriculture will be educational as well as functional and low maintenance
          • Use of xeiroscaping plants (highly drought tolerant plants) to reduce watering requirements.
        • Ecolawn hydroseeding to replace traditional sodded lawns allow areas to go dormant through summer months. This significantly reduces carbon emissions from power equipment, and no fertilizers are used. Minimal watering would be required.
